FCAM: How to Help, Part One

FCAM: How to Help, Part One

{day 3} I need help. There, I said it. I need, and receive, a TON of help. My wonderful parents watch baby every Tuesday when I teach bible study. My besties take baby so I can work or shop or sit quietly for a couple hours. My sister watches lord of the rings at my apartment instead of hers so she can snuggle little dude while I fold laundry or write Bible studies or thank you notes for all of the other support. I could go on.

Ever wondered how to help a foster parent? I polled some of my fellow single foster parents, and the overwhelming response was BABYSITTING. You see, we can’t call our next door freshman neighbor to chill with our adorable tots while we go to the doctor. Most states require that all babysitters for foster kids be “certified.” In Texas, that’s a background check, fingerprinting, and CPR/ first aid training. It’s a super impactful way to support your local foster parents AND learn more about foster kids. Google your local foster agencies and ask how you can support foster parents today!!
